Ericsson Baseband 6630
The Ericsson Baseband 6630 is a high-performance Baseband Unit (BBU) designed for advanced LTE and 5G-ready radio access networks. It serves as the central processing element of Ericsson’s Radio System, connecting to multiple Remote Radio Units (RRUs) via CPRI or eCPRI interfaces. With exceptional scalability and processing power, the Baseband 6630 supports multi-standard operation across GSM, WCDMA, LTE, and NR (5G) technologies within a single platform.
It is engineered for high-capacity sites, supporting up to six sectors and multiple frequency bands simultaneously. The Baseband 6630 delivers superior spectral efficiency and low latency through advanced baseband processing and efficient coordination between radios. The modular design allows seamless integration with Ericsson Radio 4400, 4415, 2212, and 2260 series, offering both indoor and outdoor installation options.
Equipped with energy-efficient components and intelligent cooling, the unit ensures reduced power consumption while maintaining high reliability. Its compact 1U form factor enables flexible deployment in constrained spaces, data centers, or outdoor cabinets. The Baseband 6630 supports carrier aggregation, Massive MIMO, and dual connectivity, preparing networks for a smooth evolution toward full 5G NR deployment.
