The Ericsson Radio 2212 B8 is a compact and energy-efficient Remote Radio Unit (RRU) designed for LTE and 5G-ready deployments operating in the 900 MHz frequency band (Band 8). It enables mobile operators to extend coverage and improve capacity, particularly in suburban and rural areas, while maintaining low power consumption and easy integration with existing Ericsson baseband units.
The unit delivers up to 2×40 W output power, providing stable performance even under heavy load conditions. Its architecture supports 2x2 MIMO and carrier aggregation, ensuring higher data throughput and optimized spectral efficiency. The Radio 2212 B8 features a robust IP65-rated enclosure, allowing reliable outdoor operation in challenging environments, including extreme temperatures, humidity, and dust. The device supports both pole and wall mounting, simplifying field installation. It connects seamlessly with Ericsson’s Baseband 6630 and 6648 via CPRI or eCPRI interfaces, ensuring compatibility with modern and legacy networks. With software-defined upgrade options, the 2212 B8 is ready for smooth migration toward 5G and future radio technologies.
