Nokia FRGU 472956A RRU
The Nokia FRGU 472956A is a compact and versatile remote radio head (RRH/RRU) within the Nokia AirScale Radio Access portfolio, designed to meet the requirements of modern, multi-standard mobile networks. Supporting LTE (4G) and being fully 5G NR-ready while offering backward compatibility with WCDMA (3G), the FRGU provides operators with flexibility and investment protection as networks evolve toward next-generation broadband. It is optimized for deployment across suburban, urban, and hotspot environments, offering a balance of coverage, capacity, and efficiency.
Typically operating in mid-band frequency ranges such as 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, or 2600 MHz (depending on market configuration), the FRGU delivers strong performance with a 2T2R MIMO configuration. Its high transmit power per port ensures wide-area coverage and reliable connectivity, while advanced features such as carrier aggregation and higher-order modulation enhance throughput and maximize spectral efficiency. The FRGU integrates with Nokia AirScale baseband units via CPRI or eCPRI optical fronthaul interfaces, each capable of supporting transport speeds up to 10 Gbps. This makes it suitable for both traditional distributed RAN deployments and modern cloud-RAN (vRAN) architectures, providing scalability and smooth network evolution.
