Huawei UBBPg1
The Huawei UBBPg1 is a Universal Baseband Processing Unit (UBBP) designed for Huawei SingleRAN base station platforms such as BBU3900, BBU3910, and BBU5900. It serves as the main baseband signal processing module, responsible for managing baseband computation, modulation/demodulation, coding/decoding, and MIMO processing for multi-standard wireless systems including GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G NR (via software upgrade).
The UBBPg1 delivers high-capacity processing performance, supporting multiple carriers and cells simultaneously with advanced technologies such as Carrier Aggregation, 4×4 MIMO, and Massive MIMO coordination. It works in conjunction with other boards like UMPT (control board) and UPEU (power board) to form a complete BBU subsystem. The module connects to Remote Radio Units (RRUs) through high-speed CPRI or eCPRI optical interfaces, providing flexible and scalable radio access network (RAN) deployment options. Engineered for low power consumption, high reliability, and compact design, the UBBPg1 ensures smooth operation in both centralized and distributed RAN configurations. It supports Huawei’s SingleRAN evolution strategy, allowing operators to consolidate multiple radio technologies within a single hardware infrastructure while remaining 5G-ready through software-defined upgrades.
