Ericsson Radio 2219 B8
The Ericsson Radio 2219 B8 is a compact, high-performance remote radio unit (RRU) developed as part of the Ericsson Radio System portfolio, specifically designed for deployment in the 900 MHz frequency band (Band 8). Known for its superior propagation characteristics, the 900 MHz band delivers excellent wide-area coverage and strong indoor penetration, making this unit ideal for suburban, rural, and indoor environments where reliable connectivity is essential.
Supporting LTE (4G) and WCDMA (3G) services in Band 8, the Radio 2219 B8 is fully 5G NR-ready, ensuring operators benefit from future-proof investment and smooth technology evolution. With a 2T2R MIMO configuration and output power of up to 2 × 120 W, the unit provides enhanced spectral efficiency, strong signal coverage, and robust network capacity, enabling high-quality user experiences even under heavy traffic loads. Connectivity to Ericsson baseband units is achieved via CPRI or eCPRI optical fronthaul interfaces, each capable of delivering up to 10 Gbps throughput, ensuring seamless integration into traditional and cloud-RAN architectures. Its compact design allows flexible installation close to antennas — on masts, walls, or poles — minimizing feeder loss and maximizing performance.
